My Grandma

Description

This was done is memory of a wonderful person. Someone who inspired me more than I ever knew. It took me a long time to get this done for her. I started out on the sketch, and then it was as if all inspiration, all my drive, all my soul, all my passion just abandoned me. It's been a month to the day(tomorrow) since my grandmother left this world...and finally I finished this for her.

It represents her in many ways. These were all animals she loved and flowers/foliage that she adored. Morning Glories and Tropicana Roses that she grew, Lily of the Valley which was her favorite, and the Autumn Leaves which she would take a drive just to see every year. Her favorite animal was the pig, especially little piglets. Sea Otters were also close to her heart and represented her love of the sea. The red-wing black bird was a childhood favorite and reminded her of her home and of the fall, while she admired elephants for the intelligence and kind face.

I hope all of my commissioners can forgive me. This last month has been one of the hardest in my life and without my family and Dennis by my side I don't know what I would have done. I haven't been able to draw hardly...I couldn't even sketch. I just felt hollow...

The next few days are still going to be tough. As I said, tomorrow it will have been a month and it hurts all of us. My mom has surgery on Monday and I'm still anxious about that, then I have a great deal of appointments of my own to deal with. I will get to commissions... life is just complicated right now.

Rest in Peace Gram...

Incredible work Bethany, I think my favourite from you. I can tell that you poured your heart and soul into this piece, and I know your Grandmother would be terribly proud of it. May she rest in peace. :rose:
